CSYMA Teacher Formation

To meet the need for teacher formation, CSYMA has developed the Teacher’s Evangelisation Network which is a teacher formation and renewal program in the New Evangelisation and Youth Ministry.

The CSYMA TEN Formation Pathway is comprised of a Four Phase Model of Staff Formation which incorporates both Staff Professional Development and Formation Initiatives and connection with the broader Church. This Model of Staff Formation is supported by CSYMA communications including the CSYMA TEN Journal and regular CSYMA eNews.

An overview of the pathway can be seen below.

Teachers in the New Evangelisation

Porta Fidei Retreat

Phase One is aimed at providing formation through a retreat experience to help develop a teachers relationship with Christ and capture a vision for the New Evangelisation. The program focuses on a series of teachings and sharing’s from staff on the following areas: Teaching as a Vocation; Being awakened in God’s Love; Understanding the Gospel Message; The call to Reconciliation and Surrender to Christ; and, Teachers Alive in the New Evangelisation.

The development of a retreat package accompanied with teachers experienced in the program enables the retreat to be conducted across schools or within schools through one day retreats or a series of afternoon seminars. Each session includes teachings, personal sharing’s and small groups. This is often considered to be a catalyst for further phases of the program.

CSYMA TEN Journal

The CSYMA TEN Journal is designed to be a vehicle to share with one another what is happening in the network and to provide formation articles for teachers and leaders in Catholic Secondary Schools on evangelisation and formation.

The articles are intended to be used in leadership groups, R.E. events and staff meetings to help teachers understand and move with the graces of the New Evangelisation.
